The Scimitar 3 Feb 2021
A fine good day to everyone from a very up-beat me today….
As I am sure you have all heard, Uncle Cyril has lifted the restrictions that pertain to the curfew times and most importantly, the resumption of alcohol sales….Whoopee!!!
This means that we are back in business and are able to offer the superb service to our Members that they are accustomed to…. this does not mean that the dreaded COVID has disappeared….we will still need to adhere to the strict protocols of hand sanitising, social distancing and the wearing of masks….but we have our life-blood of the Club available again. We will still ask that all patrons wear masks when ordering at the Bar….and we will ensure that our staff also wear their masks, to indicate our mutual respect that we will do our best to contain the spread of this disease….
We are cleaning and sanitising all areas and surfaces on a regular basis…in an attempt to ensure that we are being responsible in the attempt to minimise the risk…..
The hours of operation are published on our social media platforms, but these will be subject to change, based on regulations and/or operational issues….the opening of the Scimitar bar, does not mean that the Club is once again the flourishing enterprise it was before the onset of this disaster, but that we are able to firstly offer a service to our Members and secondly to generate the much needed income to pay our expenses and more importantly to be able to pay our loyal staff…..this has been the most difficult and trying period in the Clubs history at being able to “keep the doors open”….and I would request the Members to bear cognisance of the Committee’s decision to only open one bar and beer garden to try to minimise operational expenses. The rest of the areas of the Club will remain open and clean, so the Main Bar, hall, deck, ladies bar and tented area and Members are welcome to use these areas to sit and socialise in, in order for people to spread out to maintain adequate social distancing protocols…..
We are still in crisis management mode and will continue to be offering curtailed operations until normal trading circumstances return….in the interim, please continue supporting us in our endeavours at producing and income, whether it be by just visiting the bar on a regular basis, paying your subs, or with any fund raising efforts that are initiated….thank you to all the Members that have supported my call last week to pay their subs, it is greatly appreciated….keep your Subs rolling in….
We are also immediately starting the Joker draw off on Friday….and it will continue where it finished off just before Christmas….so this week there will be a Jackpot available of R21144….the same terms and conditions as always will apply….ticket sales will commence this Friday afternoon in the Hall and will close at about 19h20….with the draw taking place at 19h30…..we will also be offering our ever popular beer raffle….so keep a lookout for Jamela selling these tickets, which will be drawn five minutes before the Joker draw at 19h25…remember that for the Joker draw you have to be present to participate, whilst with the beer raffle, we will contact you if you are a winner….(remember to leave your contact number on the raffle sheet in case you know you won’t be present at the draw…)
Hockey 5’s and the cricket academy are the only team sports on offer at the Club at present, but there is still the “no spectator” policy in force….. I am pretty certain the spectators and players alike will take the opportunity to maintain their bodies and soul with some cool refreshments from the pub. Our runners will be having their club run on Wednesday…..albeit also with staggered starting times to ensure the protocols of large gatherings being adhered to…..hopefully we will see them all tonight to revitalise their tired legs….
A short little note this week, to just let everyone know that “WE ARE BACK’
Hope to see you all soon.
Warm regards, stay safe
