BNSC NEWSLETTER
Morning to all
In a first for the Club, we have been hosting a CAF soccer workshop for referees regarding the Video assistance in matches in the future…towers of scaffolding, masses of cameras, hordes of officials, teams of players, a bevy of pressmen and a handful of technical boffins descended on the North….I was able to spend short periods watching the “circus” of learning and I must say that “professional” soccer is certainly a lot different from the amateur matches I used to play and compete in many years ago….sometimes I need to question whether the enjoyment that we used to participate for and in at that time, is still the same as these days……but it was lovely to host this important workshop…and we have had some really positive feedback about the quality of our fields and facilities…and the possibility of our hosting similar programmes in the future is very real…….so we look forward to having similar arrangements in the future…well done to Rodney and his team for bringing this to the Club and gaining us the exposure we have been able to enjoy….
Our cricketers unfortunately bowed out of representing the Titans at the Club Championships, after losing to a very powerful Tukkies unit last weekend….. bad luck to Nick, Kurt and all the fellows that represented us with such honour and pride this season…thanks for all the entertainment provided….hopefully next year will be our year….
Soccer was back at the North for the first time last weekend….and we were able to have a weekend of no losses to the ever powerful and competitive Robertsham club….the reserves played most impressively against the best opposition they have encountered this season….and then grabbed their opportunities and scored two superb goals whilst defending like Trojans to run out with a victory on the day….the first side controlled their match and had the upper hand for the majority of the time….but were unable to convert their possession and territorial advantage into a positive result…and had to be satisfied with a goalless draw….this week we move our sights onto Olympia at the Italian Club in Bedfordview…
The rugby boys had quieter weekend than normal….with only two matches, both against Springs….and whilst the under 21’s suffered a 10 point loss, the first side dominated and ran our easy 29-10 winners… this weekend the players have earned a well needed rest….so no matches up for them…..enjoy the break boys….
Some really good hockey is expected up on the Astro this Sunday…. our Second side taking on Bedforview A at 09h45…and I am sure that they would appreciate any support they are able to muster…..there are four matches from the Southern Gauteng league that have been allocated for the day…. any hockey lovers should be in their element being able to watch a really good standard of league hockey on show this weekend….
Our baseballers were off to nationals in PE this past week….so all was quiet on the Northerns front…I am sure that I will receive positive report backs which I will include next week…
The joker again has remained elusive….and this week another “first-timer” proved that beginners luck was going to play no part in revealing the joker…..Elizebe Pool selecting the six of clubs from the top row….. R155477 is the new jackpot figure for this week….. with only thirteen face down cards left to select from……things are getting interesting….please be sure to give yourself the opportunity to be our next big jackpot winner….at only R5 a ticket…we must all fancy our chances of making the correct selection…this week the entertainment is making their second appearance at the North… after a really super first showing a couple of months ago….Black and Blue make their return to show case their skills…. be sure to be here to experience their magic…
If I could please request all Members to push the sales of the 100 club tickets…..we have had some serious mechanical issues with both of our mowers…and these need to be repaired in order to keep our fields in the magnificent condition we been able to maintain….there are all sorts of expenses that crop up in a Club of our size…and we are constantly under pressure to find alternate ways to finance the expenses….so the 100 Club sales will be used to plug any holes in the “dyke” that may occur, instead of asking the little Dutch boy for his finger to assist….
And speaking of method of financing at our Club….I would just like to remind Members about the some rules and regulations regarding our liquor licence, which is the major lifeblood on an ongoing basis…there are two practices that need to be policed and vigilance maintained to ensure that our licence is not ever placed in jeopardy….the first is underage drinking, which will all remain a perennial problem….if we as Members suspect that someone is underage….please courteously enquire for proof of their age….we don’t always wait for a committee member or a member of staff to have to do the task…all assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated…. the other is the monitoring of “cooler-boxes” brought onto our premises….in terms of our licence, no liquor may be brought onto our grounds, that have not been sold by the us as the licencee…..so again, if we see this happening, please approach the offenders and inform them of the laws….do not ever enter into a conflict situation…rather walk away then…and inform a member of staff….who will then make the necessary authority aware of the problem and it can then be addressed… my thanks for your co-operation and assistance in this sensitive issue….
If there is anything you would like to bring to my attention….please send me a mail to rod.scheepers@gmail….
That’s all for this week…..take care and have a great week.
See you all soon….cheers
Rod
