Dear BNSC Family,

With winter now fully underway, it’s been a while since our last newsletter — so here are a few updates on recent happenings and upcoming events at The North.

Joker Draw Update

Our popular Joker Draw has seen two lucky winners over the past two months — congratulations to them! The next round of the Joker Draw will kick off on 5th September 2025. Be sure to get your tickets and join in the fun.

Recent Events

We’ve had great success with recent events like Oppifees and the Gin & Beer Fest, both of which enjoyed fantastic turnouts and lively atmospheres. A big thank you to everyone who helped organize and participated — your support makes these events possible.

FOOTBALL

The Hollywood Bets League came on at end on the 31 May 2025. Our Benoni Northerns team finished the season on a high winning our last league match 5-1 against Diambars away from home. It has been a most exciting and memorable first season. The Club’s Football leadership mandate to coaching staff and players was not to get relegated, take the many learnings from 1st year in league and build for the future. That is exactly what they did, finishing in a credible 8th position in the log, mid table, far from relegation and tied with 6th & 7th position on same points (41). Most acceptable for first season. A further accomplishment, our striker Tshantsho Molapo, fondly nicknamed China, was the leagues top goal scorer. Not much time to rest. Pre-season will be kicking off in July with football trials for team in preparation for the start of league in September 2025.

The Super League season is at the halfway stage, the reserve and 1st teams are starting to gel and perform after the introduction of many new faces and coaching staff. The teams are starting to climb the ladder nicely with four victories in our last four games. These include derby wins at Old Bens and 1st round of the cup victories. Both teams are in 5th position and the 1st team is in reaching distance to log leaders. We are taking one match at a time, not wanting to get carried away, but most excited with the quality of football brand we are currently playing, well done coaching staff and our footballers. Next two weekend games at home versus Impala and Alberton.

RUGBY

Seniors have moved up to the Peregrine league this season (top league) and the juniors started training on the 2 of June.
