The night was warm, the cards were mostly kind to all and there were some interesting results.
Well done to that steady pair of Di and Barbara who ‘snuck in’ at the death to secure 1st place with 62.5%, followed by Robert and Cathy in second with 60.71% and Marianne and Caroline with 60.12%.
Your scribe was watching the developing story on the screen at the end, because we had a sit-out on the last three boards. Marianne and Caroline were leading with more than 64%, with two boards still outstanding, with Robert and Cathy lying 3rd. Then, Barbara and Di obviously had a good result on their last hand, because they leapfrogged into 1st, followed by a late change in fortunes with Marianne and Caroline ending in 3rd.
Well done indeed to our “youngsters”, who haven’t been playing for 40 odd years like the rest of us, for this excellent 3rd place and for winning the handicap.
Ian and yours truly had a quiet evening, finishing way down, but enjoying the game, as always.
See you on Thursday,
