Bridge Results 17 Apr 2018

Oh yes, indeed! The top pairs were separated by only a few points, but a really good win from Di and Barbara, with Bill and Jan coming joint second, together with Paul and Bridie.

When you look at the scores, there is little difference between winning and coming second, third and further down. You must agree that any homework you and your partner do will narrow the gap between what you are averaging and what you are really capable of.

Read about bridge, practice on BBO, examine your results and find where you might have gone wrong, gave away overtricks needlessly, made wrong leads, didn’t read your partner’s signals, etc, etc.

There are no magic short cuts to better bridge, or indeed, anything worth doing well in life. You have to apply your intellect, set goals for improvement and go for it!

There ends tonight’s sermon. I’m not going to stop doing this. I want our club to be the best b….y bridge club in South Africa for it’s size. I want us to be known far and wide for the excellence of our play. I want us to do better every year and compete with the best out there. And remember that anyone who is lingering at the bottom of the results ladder every week only has to ask, and I will get a good volunteer to assist you with your personal improvement. All you have to do is to ask.

Goodnight all.
