The smoky room, where serious bridge was played
That’s correct, all of you who missed the action last night!
The fire was burning, as usual, but just before we started playing, there was a sound of something cracking, accompanied by glass shards falling on the floor and what do you know, the front glass pane had disintegrated and we had an open fire.
All was well, however, we got it cleaned up and bridge continued apace! Hardy folks, these bridge players, nothing deters them, smoky room notwithstanding.
And what do you know, it was Barbara and Di, once again, followed by yours truly and Bram, accompanied by Bridie and Paul, both in second place.
Well done all, especially you hardy types who braved the smoky conditions, with Wednesday morning sore throats and something akin to a morning after hangover. All is well and I’ll see you all tomorrow, in the main hall. We aren’t sure whether the stack doors will be in, but we will be playing there.
